Why synthetic THC and isolated CBD will never be as medically beneficial overall as whole plant cannabis…… ….Cannabinoids 101 – the updated edition….

….The human endocannabinoid system (ECS) was only discovered in the 1980’s, and the structure of the “phytocannabinoids” in cannabis is so complex, and research has been so impeded by federal laws and regulations that many are still being teased out.

However we’re learning more about the human system and the myriad ways cannabis can help support various aspects of it all the time.

Here’s a newer primer which shows we’re also learning more about the ECS’ receptors. Initially, for example and until relatively recently, there were thought to be of two types of receptors, CB1 and CB2, yet there now appear to be more, and whereas it was thought that CBD didn’t bind to the CB1 type, it’s now been discovered that it does – in a whole different way chemically. Also, the receptors occur in more sites and are involved in more bodily processes essential for health than we’ve known before.

Fascinating and worth your time!
