Note: See our earlier post today re other benefits of “vaping.”
Excerpts:
“Vaporizers heat cannabis to release active cannabinoids, but remain cool enough to avoid the smoke and toxins associated with combustion. Vaporized cannabis should create fewer respiratory symptoms than smoked cannabis.
We examined self-reported respiratory symptoms in participants who ranged in cigarette and cannabis use.
Data from a large Internet sample revealed that the use of a vaporizer predicted fewer respiratory symptoms even when age, sex, cigarette smoking, and amount of cannabis used were taken into account.” However all of those factors were also found to play a role.
It should be no surprise to anyone today that cigarette smoking was found to exacerbate respiratory symptoms in the survey – and remains strongly contraindicated for all people for well-known reasons.
Even allowing for the above, the use of vaporizers decreased perceived problems compared to any other form of inhalation of cannabis including “joints, blunts, pipes, and water pipes,” and the benefits were greater for those with a higher cannabis intake.
