More on polling and the upcoming Initiative from Utah Public Radio, including a discussion of what the Legislature’s role might be if it passes.

That’s still a “fur piece” down the road as the old saying has it, since signature gathering hasn’t even started and the election is still 16 months months away (as we wish you all a ? Happy Independence Day! ?).

However, from all that TRUCE can see, the collective failure of Utah’s politicians to deal constructively with the issue for at least the last four years, and their failure to take both patient interests and a mountain of scientific evidence into account, is the primary reason why the Utah Patients Coalition and the Initiative have come into existence in the first place.

For a brief review of some of that feckless history, after reading the article, check out the first post in the article’s comment forums by a TRUCER who’s been involved over those four years.
